ENERGY ASSESSMENTS
HERS Rating
The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.  It can tell you so much about the home you live in, like how efficiently it’s operating and where you can make modifications for greater energy savings.

When you’re selling your home: a low HERS Index Score can command a higher resale price.  When you’re buying a home: you can anticipate the costs of energy bills and efficiency upgrades.

A certified Home Energy Rater assesses the energy efficiency of a home, assigning it a relative performance score. The lower the number, the more energy efficient the home. The U.S. Department of Energy has determined that a typical resale home scores 140 on the HERS Index while a standard new home is awarded a rating of 100.
A home with a HERS Index Score of 65 is 35% more energy efficient than a standard new home
A home with a HERS Index Score of 140 is 40% less energy efficient than a standard new home

Home Energy Audits
A home energy audit, also known as a home energy assessment, can help you understand the whole picture of your home's energy use. An audit can help you determine how much energy your home uses, where your home is losing energy, and which problem areas and fixes you should prioritize to make your home more efficient and comfortable. A home energy audit should be your first step before making energy-saving home improvements, as well as before adding a renewable energy system to your home.

Energy audits can be simple to produce, yet detailed enough to yield impact reductions and human health benefits

JHI will provide a professional home energy assessment of your home's energy use. In addition to a room-by-room examination of the home.  In some cases we may employ equipment such as blower doors, infrared cameras, and (rarely) PerFluorocarbon tracer gas.
